I've given a few away.

There are times when I have sold a lot of unused ones but they continue to pile up.

Three types of unused rulebooks.
1. I don't play, but they're popular, and I might wind up with a group or opponent which uses them. Keep.
2. I don't play but that's not why I bought it: scenarios, terrain-making advise, discussions of problems in rule-writing. Keep.
3. All others. Flea market. Note the "1" rulebooks will eventually end up here. Constant turnover.

I have kept the vast majority of rule books I've ever purchased.

The only time I've sold rule books or sets is when I know I'm not going to use them and the price for them has gone right up. I have, I admit, purchased some sets simply to resell when I find them for small amounts. I keep them for the annual flea market, or sometimes relist them on ebay.

Most sets, though, are still on my shelves and are useful as RP above noted: I may play some at some point, or they have useful background or scenario information, campaign rules or ideas, things like that.

FWIW, recently, I've been taking the rule books and sets that I know I am going to play, or am currently playing, over to Staples and having them spiral bound. Makes using them a ton easier and although from time to time you might lose a letter here or there, it's obvious what the word is and there's no great impediment to using the book. grin

I would give most of what I have but no one wants them.

Shabnasty, sell them at a wargaming flea market--or offer them here--at $5 USD per. You'll be doing someone a favor, clearing out your wargame area a little, and making a little money. No bad things.

Give them away.

I have kept some for years and years, if only for reference, and still have a big stack; but sooner or later, once you determine you're not likely to need or use them, one might as well sell or donate -- you can't take 'em with you.

"I don't own any rulebooks." LOL!

I love this choice.

If your on TMP then you probably own a rulebook.
