15-18mm. Everything else depends on rules, board and individual interests. This was said over and over in the pre-poll discussion, but does not turn up in the poll options. |

If I had just 4 more units painted , then it would be just right! ;) |

The ideal size is one unit more than I have. |

Perhaps a French army needs to be the equivalent of at leat 2 corps to qualify as an army. Later mainland European armies too. But most British and many earlier armies did not use the corps system, so it is indeed a difficult question. |

this one really is ridiculous as it entirely depends on the troop scale you are using. Otherwise … what Robert P. said ! Phil |

How many soldiers in a "Napoleonic army"? At Waterloo, Napoleon showed up with around 70,000. At a scale of 30:1, that requires 2,333 figures just for the French. |

One for one, to do it properly! |

As various said, depends on the troop scale you're using. You need a few dozen for it to look vaguely like an army, though. |

I think there is a size, you need more than 2 divisions and yes at your scale, so to me 300 figures is minimum |

Depending on rules used, easily several hundreds. I use Age of Eagles (1 stand, 4 figures, is @400 men) and can field multiple Corps of the Major Powers and several of the Minor Corps. French, Austrian, Russian, Prussian and British. Spanish, Bavarians, Württemberg, Poles and Westphalians fill in the rest. This is after @ 15 years of painting, last few years have been 'round outs' or fillers. |
