I'd say it depends on the sculpts. Some, like Bob Olley's Samurai Foxriders (nee wolf riders)
or Rakhams Goblins of No-Dan-Kar are brilliant, (IMO),
Just call'em 'Oni' instead of 'goblins' and I think few would have issues. On the other hand, I've certainly seen a few lines (cough-cough-dwarves-cough-cough) that were, shall we say: uninspiring (again, IMO). |

I said "yes" as some of the sculpts look and feel right – Nick Lund's Oriental Hobgoblins are a great example that work for me link
(badly painted) Make great Oni Aly Morrison's look more like goblins than hobgoblins
and I suspect many are not old enough to have been excited by the early Minifigs that may have been the first line of hobgoblins available:
But some of the sculpts of other ones are either (for me) a case of "trying too hard to make it work" or "too cartoonish" for my liking. |
