I voted 'No Opinion' since there isn't a 'Sometimes' answer. I'm no prude, but sometimes things here tend to remind me of schoolyard maturity, In my mind's eye I can picture some members here gathered in a corner of a playground giggling at a chainmail bikini mini someone brought to school with them…… |

Too Sexy? I can't think of much that is less sexy that TMP. |

I think "too sexy" overstates the case, but I very much agree with PzGen on the maturity level displayed at times. |

but I very much agree with PzGen on the maturity level displayed at times. That's a different matter entirely. |

Wow. That would have to be a really low bar for "sexy". Wow. -Kle. |

It's a long time since I've been accused of being too sexy. I usually aim for just sexy enough. Agree with the comment above on sniggering over female miniatures – it is puerile. There, I came right out and said it. TMP – it's a bit of a boys club because wargaming is a bit of a boys club – not so true in SF and fantasy, but still on the money for historicals. That doesn't bother me as other hobbies – knitting, quilting, crochet for example – are predominantly female. There are no men at all at my mother's quilting group. Spot the difference :

Hmm, Both photos have individuals who tend to be on the heavy side. Both have colorful settings (by the way that green quilt up in the upper left section would make a great terrain piece) I know the difference is that the ladies tend to do it vertical while the wargamers do it horizontal. |

Miniature wargaming is family-oriented? Do people out there actually believe that? |

"gaming" is pretty diverse. I see a good mix (though still dude-centric, often due to ****ty attitudes from boys) at card game tournaments. RPG's have been split pretty even, pretty much since the days of White Wolf. Video games are diverse too but you wouldn't notice it online because "dudebros" will act like utter creeps. Miniatures gaming is mostly white dudes. I imagine there's a lot of cultural baggage going on and the fact that 99% of the miniatures are dudes. Also I can't believe this hasn't been posted YouTube link as far as TMP… it's a good old boys club. I doubt much will change that. As such, it tends to embrace the "violence good, sex bad" spirit that American media embraces.

"Too sexy" isn't the correct term for this poll. It should be "Too juvenile" |
Toronto48 | 28 Mar 2015 11:07 a.m. PST |
Mr Tin has it – juvenile and puerile lead by a coterie of alcohol impaired ex frat boys |

Miniature wargaming is family-oriented? Do people out there actually believe that? Yeah. My entire family plays. Most of my extended family plays. Most of the people that come over for our monthly game day bring their families. Since the majority of my extended family has fought in and lived through wars from WWI (well, the October Revolution of the same era) through yesterday, there is pretty much no desire to sugar coat the realities of international relations to any of the children. |

"… "violence good, sex bad" spirit that American media embraces,,," "Yes" on the former, "Hardly"on the latter. YMMV. Perhaps the question should be, "Is TMP too sexually explicit?" |
The Beast Rampant | 28 Mar 2015 1:42 p.m. PST |
"… "violence good, sex bad" spirit that American media embraces,,,". . Go ahead and say, "puritanical". You KNOW you want to. |

There are occasional posts that are sexist, puerile, and juvenile. But for the most part TMP is very tame. |

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said so far. Beavis and Butthead got NOTHIN' on TMP as far as awkward puerile sexist pap goes. But it ain't "sexy" in any way! Ridiculous complaint and poll, really. |

the difference is that the ladies tend to do it vertical while the wargamers do it horizontal. Ooh err. And missus. |

Too sexy? Has the complainant seen the rest of the internet? BTW … I saw the two photos above and thought the first onw was the old vendors room at the Lancaster H'Con. Imagine my surprise … |
