Suprised Dune-84 did well.
"Yes, Moebius, a Simple Blaster"-yup.

Nostalgia (like the 1950s stuff) affects my voting, I am sure.

Lots of good choices here

RavenscraftCybernetics28 May 2015 4:57 a.m. PST

tough choices again

Gattaca deserves more praise, high quality scifi flick, not just an adventure movie put into a scifi setting…

It was indeed great and I have watched it a number of times. It's just not one of my favorites as much as a bunch of others on the list. It was probably number six, though… 8)=

5th Element is such a weird, fun movie.

If I catch it on TV, I have to test Ld-2 to turn the channel.

I too have to take that test.

Many condemn Dune for its lack of coherence and for its departures from Frank Herbert's novel. I say for the first part a comprehensible narrative isn't everything; and for the second, the book could have used some of the movie's madness.

Remember no Forbidden Planet no Star Trek

Can I cast all five of my votes for Forbidden Planet? And the five from all the other rounds, too? I love that flick.

Mithmee28 May 2015 2:30 p.m. PST

Yup, it needs a remake.

A very good remake.

Ron W DuBray28 May 2015 2:47 p.m. PST

I would watch Forbidden Planet every time it was on TV growing up and would today if I had TV.

Old Contemptibles28 May 2015 3:05 p.m. PST

"The Fifth Element" really? That was not all that good of a film.

Martian Root Canal28 May 2015 3:15 p.m. PST

Love the Fifth Element. To each his own.

Multi-pass!

And, for the record, I voted Flash Gordon.

Best soundtrack ever.

And Brian Blessed.

"To each his own" is correct. I personally found the Fifth Element one of the worst films I'd ever seen. So proof that we all appreciate things in our own ways.

Mako1128 May 2015 11:41 p.m. PST

Hmmmm, could only find three good choices, e.g. District 9, Dredd, and Independence Day.

The others really don't meet my threshold for a "good" rating.

Bravo for all the Forbidden Planet fans! Quite possibly the BEST SF movie ever made!

Another vote for 'Forbidden Planet'!
