Some truly great movies here, but the only two which are really about the war are Gallipoli and All Quiet on the Western Front. The others are character studies with the war as a backdrop. Of the two I'd have to go with All Quiet.

I wrestled with Gallipoli and All Quiet. Had to come down in favor of Gallipoli but it was close.

I understand Dr. Zhivago not making it, I usually associate that movie with the Russian Civil War.
