It would be samurai actually. But since that wasnt a choice I went with my #2, Sci-Fi. |

I expect "science fiction" and "fantasy" will eventually win out, since they are inherently larger categories than "WW2", or "Napoleonics". -Kle. |

I went with the first one that popped into my head. Then when I saw the list I was thrown into agony over the choice. |

"It would be samurai actually. But since that wasnt a choice I went with my #2, Sci-Fi." My thoughts exactly, but I picked fantasy, as it seemed like the broadest choice. Fantasy could be anything

My choice would be naval from various eras, age of sail, pre-dreadnought, WW1 and WW2. Tom |
| vojvoda | 17 Mar 2010 5:55 a.m. PST |
Well I have been tracking number of games by era since the early 1980s. I can say hands down WWII will win any "popularity" pole as far as gaming goes. Me it use to be ancients, followed by ACW then Napoleonics. Now ACW ancients (Punic actually) then Napoleonics. I wish I could get more into Napoleonics but I think it will fall totally off the radar scope as I start again in the hobby. VR James Mattes |

If it's really only 1 then fantasy, and (non-GW) LOTR at that ! Course that means I'll have several human medieval/dark ages armies, so if I leave out orcs and magic I can still do medievals (Ha !). Add a few arquebusiers and I can do renaissance and
. (I'm cheating, aren't I ?) |

Easy. EVERYTHING we do is fantasy, so
 That covers everything. |
| Who asked this joker | 17 Mar 2010 7:01 a.m. PST |
Ancient/medieval for me. Fun to paint. Fun to play! |
| richarDISNEY | 17 Mar 2010 7:14 a.m. PST |
I went with WW2, but I am assuming that Weird War 2 included in that

| Jamesonsafari | 17 Mar 2010 7:39 a.m. PST |
Tough choice really. But I went ancient/medieval since that broad brush covers several diverse periods. although I don't think pike phalanxes would scratch the same itch as SYW does and chariots arent' really a substitute for WW2 tanks
I really wold have prefered a 'trying to choose would make my head explode' option. |
Frederick | 17 Mar 2010 7:50 a.m. PST |
Very tough choice – I chose ACW because it was my first love, and I have large armies in multiple scales for ACW – but Ancients/SYW/Nappys are a tie for second! |
Frederick | 17 Mar 2010 7:56 a.m. PST |
You know, this is a bit of a crazy question – like saying you can only have one wife (oh – wait a minute) |
| jrbatso | 17 Mar 2010 7:59 a.m. PST |
I hope I never have to make such a choice. I enjoy many periods but I voted WWII/SCW over ACW because of the variety of combat (land, air, sea) and locations. |
Gungnir | 17 Mar 2010 8:33 a.m. PST |
It would have to be fantasy, in that mind boggling situation, but I'ld hate to abandon the other periods. |
| Cpt Arexu | 17 Mar 2010 9:58 a.m. PST |
I reject your proposition entirely! I shall continue to gather and play all manner of diverse games and minis until you pry them from my cold dead hands. |
| nazrat | 17 Mar 2010 10:15 a.m. PST |
I voted WW II, but the Captain has it right! |

For historicals I really only game the Neogene period. I do fantasy and sci-fi as well but those aren't really periods. |
| Natholeon | 17 Mar 2010 11:44 a.m. PST |
Thankfully War of Spanish Succession/Marlburian wasn't there. Made it easy to pick WWI as the favourite. But agree with the above comments. What a wicked world it would be if this was actually forces upon us all! |

grin That covers everything. Doesn't happen often but me and John are in complete agreement. x42 |

Scifi, but again, I'm counting Weird War 2 in there. Plus, that'd cover superheroes. Plus Stargate scenarios, and pulp scenarios, where my troops could encounter Samurais, lost Roman outposts, fishmen cultists, etc. |
| (Leftee) | 17 Mar 2010 10:40 p.m. PST |
Neither Burgundian Ordonnance nor Etruscans were (specific) choices so went with Seven Years War! |
| CLDISME | 18 Mar 2010 7:36 a.m. PST |
Even though I do not have any figures for this period, I chose American Civil War. Although true for other periods, it can be played from a skirmish level on up with a wide variety of figure sizes in many different styles of terrain. Although Blue vs Grey is the standard, it also offers a wide variety of uniform colors to choose from, too. There is also an extensive amount of verifiable history to work with, but enough "lost in time" facts where you can fudge occasionally. |
| warwell | 19 Mar 2010 8:26 a.m. PST |
Even though it's not my favorite period, I chose WW2 as I game that most frequently (thanks to Memoir 44). |
| Jovian1 | 23 Mar 2010 12:09 p.m. PST |
I'd rather you just SHOT me than tell me I could only game one period. Its a game, it's not marriage! Sorry – I voted OTHER. |
| SultanSevy | 27 Mar 2010 7:26 p.m. PST |
Damn
missed this poll. I would have easily voted for FANTASY, and so would the other 3 guys in my wargaming group. Ancients/Medievals would be second. Gotta say though, picking only 1 period kinda limits the fun of things. |
