No for me. I met my gaming buddies through work.

I met them through gaming, so I am not sure where I would have met them at except at the gaming table. The same can be said for any hobby. I wouldn't have my scuba friends if I did not meet them through diving.

Only a couple of people I met through gaming in our group. Nobody in our group has only gaming in common.

Some people I have met through gaming have become friends.
Some people who are my friends have become gamers.
I do on occasion game with people who are not yet friends, or for whom circumstances prevent from being more than "amiable acquaintances." (As distance, only see them at a con, etc..)

So no, yes, and maybe. Once again, call it "Other."

I agree with Parzival. I would like to add that who my friends are is based upon what kind of person they are; gaming is a plus but I have lots of friends from life's experiences in common outside of gaming.

Outside of work, pretty much all my friends are wargamers, but I wouldn't call most of the people I've wargamed with friends, let alone bedfellows.

We are a community. That's different.

Tough question. I would certainly hang out with the guys I game with outside of gaming, but I doubt I would have met some of them outside of gaming

Like most things in life it isn't really a clear cut blanket yes or no. Some yes, some no.

20thmaine – Nailed it. Thank you.
