These days I do much more model building than gaming, so I don't mind the individual track links. They are fiddly, but the end result looks much better.

I used to prefer the rubber tracks, but they don't hold up as well over the decades. I still have some of my tank models dating back to 1972, and a few of the rubber tracks have disintegrated.

Jake took the words right out of my mouth. Individual links for me.

Exacta-mundo. The military modeling world doesn't really give a fig about demands by the minority of us who are wargamers. What they (and many of us who are wargamers) are looking for are good modeling results.

My only concern is "How does it play on the table?"

A precise model versus one that "does the job" for the game is over-kill (and possibly over priced) for the former.

Gracias,

Glenn

I don't do plastic kits.
I prefer a total assembly.

HOWEVER…
Why the heck can NO one make a tread or track assembly where the detail is just crapped out and melted over? I just did some Old Glory T-34 kits last night, and they were horrible. Ironically, yhe detail was PERFECT on the bottom, and all melted out along the visible links! Grrrrr. And, the Holy Grail Battlefront were not much better, if not worse.
I hate whittling out tracks from a solid bar of lead.

That, Glenn, however, is your opinion. Some people share it and some people share mine. The way my friends and I play, half the fun of a wargame is seeing the detail and work one has put into a model "in action".

If I have to do a kit – I'll go for HaT 1/72 for ease. I can add extra stuff and stowage as I like.

I love individual track links… in larger scales. For 1/72 they would drive me nuts, so for gaming, I'll take pre-molded.

I think individual links have the potential to look *far* worse than one-piece molded sets, especially at 15mm scale! I prefer decent one-piece units, personally, especially for gaming purposes. I'm not keen on the Kitech-style rubber bands, but one-piece molded tracks are a good compromise.
