Those books might show up on later round one polls, this is alphabetical and only went to C.

Its alphabetical.

Of that list, i've only read the Posleen stuff, which had good battle descriptions but the guy can't shut up about his politics and Armor by Steakley half of which is one of my favourite books ever.

edit: Forgot the Honor Harrington books which are quite good.

We all know that Starship troopers will win, right?

I voted for the only one of these I've read,Bill the Galactic Hero. First read it in high school, in the shorter vesion published in Galaxy. It(along with 1984) became my vade mecum. They both contain a lot of quotable lines applicable to high school.

I'm with you on Armor, half of that book was an excellent mil sci-fi book!

None of these are favorites of mine, so I'll wait for the next wave.

By the way, if William H. Keith's "Mercenary Star" isn't there then I'm out!!

It'll come down to SST vs Forever War.

+1 Mithmee. Although a Small Colonial War is excellent.

Ha, I am rooting for Fred Saberhagens stuff. Go berserkers and bolos!

Triplecdad25 Jun 2016 7:04 p.m. PST

The Lost Regiment series, Civil War vets fighting cannibalistic nomadic horsemen!

Gordon R. Dickinson's Dorsai series, most excellent. A very dark novel, We All Died at Breakaway Station should also be considered.

Only read two of these but I keep going back to the old school stuff like Warriors (very near future,) Red Storm Rising, SST, Beast Master series, Bolo book 1, The Sioux Spacen
Man, Peace Company, Star Guard, Star Rangers, Westbof Homor, The Mercenary, etc., but historical stuff like Touched by Fire seems so much more interesting usually.

C.R.O.W was really Great, written by a soldier. I hope he keeps the series going.

My thought exactly.

I'm with Mute, where are Laumer's Bolo series & Saberhagen's Berserkers?
