"Your Attitude Towards Terrain" Topic

I prefer to buy it but I've never been able to afford what I wanted, so I make it myself.

Interesting question. Lousy format

Our group has a 'terrain guy'. He's a master & builds most of it for us.

I buy and make my own. Generally I'm more willing to buy buildings than other things. I make my own hills and such like.

2 and 3 in combination. Either assembled and ready to paint, or unassembled.

I build my own because 1: I enjoy it 2:I like buildings and roads with a true ground foot print and 3: the cost of pre made stuff or even kits are way out of my gaming budget.

Have bought ready – made, bought stuff to paint and also made my own

More recently I tend to the buy stuff to paint most often

I make my own hills. And I have made some roads, streams and rivets.
I have made my own buildings and have bought some.
I haunt the craft stores around Christmas for terrain goodies.

The essence of my terrain is portability. I want to be able to put up and take down attractive looking battlefields quickly.

Voting for the top five when there are only six choices seemed strange so I voted for the one that was the best fit.

But you should have gone with Other since it did not have…

Go outside and use real rocks and sticks.

I only voted for three, since 5 of the 6 includes "all of the above", if you exclude "other".

I'd like to purchase more of the pre-built (resin), and/or plastic kit buildings, but those can get pretty expensive, especially in any quantity, so I tend to make at least some of my own, as well as terrain, e.g. hills, packaged tree kits you glue together yourself, etc..

If money wasn't finite, I'd buy more completely assembled items, but would still probably paint it myself, since the markup for just average paintjobs on buildings is enormous in many cases.

I like a mix of things. Sometimes purchasing ready built terrain pieces makes sense, like buildings or walls. Other times the options available for my need require me to make my own terrain pieces. Its also an artistic extension of my hobby into another realm.

Thank you for the choice of "some combination of these options." So many of these poll question is an either one or the other question.
