I wouldn't claim to be able to speak Latin at all, but I have a limited ability to read it.

The verbiage on the poll description states "on a rating from 0 to 10" but there is no 0 in the list.

2 years of Latin in high school. Basically, I can vaguely recognize certain words and or phrases, but that's about it.

Latin -- late medieval and Renaissance Latin -- is the language in which I do most of my research. I read it pretty competently, but can't claim to speak it proficiently at all. I do know a couple of pretty good "dirty" jokes in Latin, though…

Can read a fair bit, very poor verbal comprehension and can speak a little with a terrible accent (so I have been told by my brother in law, who being Jesuit taught is fluent)

Is there even such a thing as a "native" Latin speaker?

Narratio12 Jul 2020 11:13 p.m. PST

A native speaker of Latin? Only one I could think of would be Yoda. His sentence structures appear to be Latinate.

4-years of school, back in the day, more years than I care to remember. However, I still remember some of it, and who can forget "amo, amas, amat, amamus, amatis, amant" grin
