"What Eras Do You Play Regularly?" Topic

Other: Spanish Civil War

It doesn't define regularly (which is, I, suspect a relative term) …

Games I've played in the last year. I did put down 'Seven Years War', and missed 'War of the Austrian Succession', thought for me these are part of the same 'period' – especially when 'Ancients' is a single period.

My other was predreadnought naval.

Well – other is Fantasy/SF.

And English Civil Wars is actually British Civil Wars as I include Scots, Irish and Welsh.

I play in 3 periods – shock, musket, and "modern" (echoing Morschauser).

Shock is essentially a dark ages / medieval amalgam set in my imagi-nations. So I voted for both DA and medieval.

Musket is set in the same imagi-nations but with 18th century style technology and culture. Thus I voted for Age of Reason.

Finally, I voted "other" because I play sci-fi games set in my Space Templars imagi-galaxy as my "modern" period. I guess I could vote WW2 because my sci-fi rules are essentially WW2 in space.

A simple "non-historical" check box would have been nice. I'm also surprised how little people (here) are playing Renaissance with all the new rules that have been released over the last several years.

What is "The Old French War"?

That is my first reaction, as well. Who were the Old French? And who were they at war with?

no ancient naval or mastodon hunting?

The Old French War, was declared by Louis XV in 1744. Part of the French & Indian Wars.

Also do Revolutionary French and Warlord China (Sandpebbleish).

Louis sent his infantry equipped with the latest musket rests (see below) but unfortunately the wheeled devices were not suitable for the forests of North America as they often got bogged in swampy ground.

The British would jeer at their French opponents because of their lack of mobility…."You move like my old Grandad"….& hence the name, 'The Old French War'.

This poll has made me realize that, with the Little Prince's interest in WWI airplanes, I actually game that more than Napoleonics

Sci Fi both Ground and Space along with my 4 other picks. I could have easlly picked 2 to 4 more.

While I do *occasionally* game several of the eras mentioned, "regularly" for anything is a stretch, but mostly that would be either SF or Fantasy.

Fortunately, I have a long-awaited gaming night coming up, so that will change. Don't yet know what we're doing, though.

What else do I play?

Even my very regular games are more periods than that, let alone my less regular ones.

Hilariously of the late nineteenth century European Wars, my least played is probably FPW, higher ranked would be the APW and Franco-Austrian War.

While I like Science Fiction,Fantasy or Pulp the most-I basically play whats available at Southern Front(and the late lamented Spring Forward).

Am I the only one here who doesn't play any era enough to say I play it regularly?
