It doesn't define regularly (which is, I, suspect a relative term) …

Games I've played in the last year. I did put down 'Seven Years War', and missed 'War of the Austrian Succession', thought for me these are part of the same 'period' – especially when 'Ancients' is a single period.

My other was predreadnought naval.

Well – other is Fantasy/SF.

And English Civil Wars is actually British Civil Wars as I include Scots, Irish and Welsh.

I play in 3 periods – shock, musket, and "modern" (echoing Morschauser).

Shock is essentially a dark ages / medieval amalgam set in my imagi-nations. So I voted for both DA and medieval.

Musket is set in the same imagi-nations but with 18th century style technology and culture. Thus I voted for Age of Reason.

Finally, I voted "other" because I play sci-fi games set in my Space Templars imagi-galaxy as my "modern" period. I guess I could vote WW2 because my sci-fi rules are essentially WW2 in space.

A simple "non-historical" check box would have been nice. I'm also surprised how little people (here) are playing Renaissance with all the new rules that have been released over the last several years.

What is "The Old French War"?

Cerdic19 Apr 2015 5:40 a.m. PST

That is my first reaction, as well. Who were the Old French? And who were they at war with?

RavenscraftCybernetics19 Apr 2015 6:17 a.m. PST

no ancient naval or mastodon hunting?

The Old French War, was declared by Louis XV in 1744. Part of the French & Indian Wars.

Also do Revolutionary French and Warlord China (Sandpebbleish).

Who were the Old French?

Louis sent his infantry equipped with the latest musket rests (see below) but unfortunately the wheeled devices were not suitable for the forests of North America as they often got bogged in swampy ground.

The British would jeer at their French opponents because of their lack of mobility…."You move like my old Grandad"….& hence the name, 'The Old French War'.

This poll has made me realize that, with the Little Prince's interest in WWI airplanes, I actually game that more than Napoleonics

While I do *occasionally* game several of the eras mentioned, "regularly" for anything is a stretch, but mostly that would be either SF or Fantasy.

Fortunately, I have a long-awaited gaming night coming up, so that will change. Don't yet know what we're doing, though.

What else do I play?

Franco-Austrian/2nd Italian War of Independence (1859) and Austro-Prussian War (1866)

Ron W DuBray19 Apr 2015 5:05 p.m. PST

Kevin in Albuquerque19 Apr 2015 6:58 p.m. PST

My other is Age of Sail.

Wulfgar20 Apr 2015 6:51 a.m. PST

My own other is Japan during the Sengoku Jidai.

Martin Rapier20 Apr 2015 6:53 a.m. PST

I can only choose five?!

Even my very regular games are more periods than that, let alone my less regular ones.

Hilariously of the late nineteenth century European Wars, my least played is probably FPW, higher ranked would be the APW and Franco-Austrian War.

KTravlos21 Apr 2015 6:55 a.m. PST

Other: 19th Century Wars other than FPW

Am I the only one here who doesn't play any era enough to say I play it regularly?

Other Fantasy & Sci-Fi/Post apoc

Edit . Just spotted that OP has no interest in these so probably left out of choice for a reason.
So pick 4 on the list that I have played in last few years.
