The 1980 version was nominated, it is the one with Jeff Goldblum. |

King Kong, again, as much as I love it, is not a horror movie. However there were only 4 others which I had seen, so I put it on the list— insert Emerson quote about "foolish consistency." I am stunned not to see the original Nosferatu (1922, IIRC) on the list. I've only seen it once, but it's a seminal horror film (possibly the first?), and is the source of many classic horror/vampire film tropes (notably the "rise from the coffin as if possessing hinged feet" bit). |

Night of the Demon was 1957. And if it doesn't win then this poll is meaningless. And since I nominated it I think I know which version was meant. |

And surely we meant the original Nosferatu film. |

Night of the Demon is cool. Doesn't come close to getting my vote for 'most watched' as I've only seen it twice. Curious horror cinema fans are curious 20thmaine — how many times have you watched it? |

If I've only seen a movie once, does that count? So far, of all the choices offered here, I've only seen anything I like ONCE. So, if I vote for something I like but have only seen it once, am I cheating? Heck. I'm an American voter, and I've participated in my share of frivolous elections for years. And that certainly starts at the top. So far, I have An American Werewolf in London as the movie I liked best, but, again, I've only seen it once. So, I'll ride it to the end. 😄 I'm not getting involved in the OTHER semantic quibble over what is Horror. Only one quibble per poll for me. |

Night of the Demon ? I couldn't possibly say – it's one of those films (there are about 5) that I have to watch if it is on when flicking through channels, even though I have had it on DVD for years. I'd guess at least a couple of times a year (I know, that's terrible – and the actual truth is worse than that as I know that I have actually watched it more than twice in a week) so well above 50 times. Partly it's the MR James connection, partly it's the demon itself, but a huge part of it is Niall MacGinnis in the Children's party scene. (In the usa they call it Curse of the Demon apparently, and they cut 14 minutes – I'm happy to say that I've never seen that cut, I wouldn't want to lose a minute) |

Some wrong dates here? I love King Kong (1933) and watch it any time with happiness. It fits the horror movie theme for me, just as much as Creature from the Black Lagoon. Night of the Demon -- the original, full-length UK cut -- is quite fascinating. I watched it again not long ago. Fun to see "Zeus" from Jason & the Argonauts playing the villain. (Niall McGinniss, if memory serves. Sp?) |

If once is your most watched, that's a valid vote. |

Watched "Curse/Night of the Demon" last night! AS far as I know I haven't seen the longer version but it is a great movie. |

I agree with Parzival King Kong is not classic horror in the vein of the vampire/mummy/Frankenstein/Halloween movies. More of a Sci Fi genre. |

Watched Nosferato last 4 years on Halloween |

Finally watched Nosferatu (1922) tonight via YouTube freebie, albeit sullied with ads -- but a great restoration HD transfer, original tinted screens in places, and with a terrific restored soundtrack. very entertaining, and worthy of all the accolades (allowing for shifting standards). |
