Other – 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 & more. It totally depends on the game, rules & scenario, fellow players etc. In fact too many variables to list them all. |

Just copy and past from the pre pole The best games for me are with 4 to 8 players with an umpire but rather than fully distinct sides each player has a brief giving his win conditions which are not necessarily compatible with players nominally on his side. x42 |

It hugely depends on the game, but for my favourite – Grand Tactical in SYW, Napoleonic or ACW – I like 3 on 3, with one player being designated "Grand Poobah" for that particular side with two subordinate commanders The guys I game with, subordinate is merely a decorative adjective – they certainly feel free to disregard the Grand Poobah's directives as they see fit! |

new rules – solo trying out new rules 1 on 1 conventions 2 or 3 versus same # of opponents fantasy game – 3 on 3 plus 2 over-all (including support) |

Six is a good number to fill a board for us, but it's not necessarily 3 on 3. The Jurassic World Cup was 1 on 1 on 1 on 1 on 1 on 1. Last month's crossing of lines scenario was 2 on 2 on 2. |

Six, mostly because of room and space considerations. At a Con, the more the merrier. Six allows 2v4 as well as 3v3 (or even 1v5). Six gamer would need 6-8 feet of table "frontage" |

Depends on the game and the people, doesn't it? |

Since retiring my group plays weekly with 3 vs 3 playing for 3 or 4 hours with a lunch break. Once or twice a year we get together with 12 or more per side playing all day. |

Some of my favorite sessions were three-way free-for-alls. Just sayin'! |
