I'm happy to go with the definition of whoever I am talking to. x42 |

Charitable of you x42. I object on principle to every question which assumes miniature wargaming is some sort of organization on which standards can be imposed. |

You are correct, x42. Especially if the person you're talking to is the person putting on the game! |

It is too bad that the explanation of the options is for a previous poll on rules. Jim |

I have played with them, mostly for a friend, but I do not like them. |

Definitely count as miniatures to me.I think the cut out books from Peter Dennis are fantastic. Bought most of them on pre-order just in case I feel like gaming something larger than 6mm. |

I am fine with them, own several sets, but when I used them in a "miniatures game", outside of my RPG games, they were tolerated, unhappily, with comments that they be pulled first, as casualties were removed. They did not bother me in the least, but I took the comments, and the uncomfortable expressions on some faces, as an indication to never use them again, with those players. I get it. I learned, and I will not make that mistake again. I have since acquired more of the actual miniatures: this experience pushed me into buying more mini's… Imagine that! Like I needed a reason to buy more miniatures… LOL! Cheers! |

If I went to play with someone and they had both armies I would be totally fine with them. If I showed up with my 3d miniatures and they had 2d I would still play but would not be quite as happy. I would consider building a force of them if the cost/effort vs reward were right. |

It's a paper soldier – it counts as a soldier in my collection. I don't call them minis, so won't be voting for that (and as for the implications of the poll – well, who cares? ) .. I wargame and I collect toy soldiers and wargame figures. Paper and card soldiers are part of that spectrum. Phil |

Game piece, yes. Not a miniature as this hobby has defined it for generations. |

I agree with Yestthatphil and Flashman – game piece, paper soldier but not a mini |

Remember the ones that Steve Jackson Games sold some 20(?) years ago? I also have some SF and Superhero RPG standees from about that time. |
Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut | 25 Feb 2020 7:07 p.m. PST |
I spend a lot of time and effort either modifying existing standees or creating my own with imaging software.

Sgt Slag, I suspect mixing them with 3D figures didn't help. No reason they--or flats--can't be a decent-looking board by themselves, but when you mix them it focuses the attention. You can get by with some really dreadful-looking trees--until you add good ones to the mix. |
