How can you even ask this question? He's a rogue and a scoundrel. Of course he shot first!! |

No doubt he shot first Given where he was, who he was meeting and the likely consequences of not shooting first, it's not like he had a lot of choices |

IIRC, at the time Lucas said that was a deliberate choice, and was important to Han's character. Of course, when the prequels came out he did a 180 and said Han always shot first, it just wasn't clear. Twit. |

If these good folks attest to it, how can there be ANY doubt? YouTube link At the 2:02 point, but worth waiting for it (and staying afterwards). Just sayin' |

Lets see: he had a gun pointed at him any one would shoot first as soon as he realized the other guy was going to shot him or even before. So whats the big deal about it? Any one with a brain would have shot first. |

The problem is, that among certain circles, it wouldn't make one look like a "good guy" and it's why Lucas ended up tinkering with the scene in almost every re-release of episode 1 or 4 – this is why I prefer the Dagg Dibrimi character. |

But Han WASN'T a good guy. Besides, the dialogue strongly implies that Greedo is quite untrustworthy: he proffers a payoff to look the other way- or maybe he won't…? And of couse, Jabba "might only take (Han's) ship, if (he's) lucky." There's no good outcome. Why WOULDN'T he have shot him? Latter-day Lucas understands character like I understand why anyone watches "E" reality programming. |

It was fundamental to Han's character. When I was 7 and saw Han shoot first, I felt like "woah, this guy is dangerous. I don't know what he's going to do next." I knew Han wasn't exactly a bad guy, but that made me feel that he wasn't exactly a good guy, either. Which was the point. Without it, it flattens out Han's character arc quite a bit. |

Of course, when the prequels came out he did a 180 and said Han always shot first, it just wasn't clear. I wish I had taken it upon myself to document all of Lucas' "Word from the Mount" one-eighties. I have heard a lot in various interviews, and it's not like I was seeking out ever soundbite and article I could find on him. Seriously, there is something off with the guy. |

Since when does something self-evident require a "vote" to confirm? He shot first. There is no "opinion" about it. Defy revisionism!!!!!!!! |

Han did not shoot first. Han shot.. Greedo never got off a shot. |

It's clear that he did. At least it was until Lucas tampered with the evidence. |

Han acted in self-defense. Greedo had already stated his intent to shoot him. The special edition version made no sense. Greedo shot at point-blank range and missed? How did he last so long as a bounty hunter? |

Can I get Zardoz added as a choice instead of Serpico? |
