This is a non-question, as the way the post describes the rule does not reflect what the rule actually says:

Can I question the reliability of a news source?
Yes, if the criticism is fact-based and not based on politics. Saying "The National Enquirer is only a tabloid." would be OK. Saying "Don't trust The New York Times, they're so left-wing" would not be OK.

The news source rule is clarification that the name calling rule applies to news entities as well as individuals or populations.

Saying that a news source is left wing or right wing is a political statement. Saying the article is factually wrong is a valid discussion point. DH the former, just as is done for ad hominem attacks on posters. Encourage the latter as it can be useful.

Ah, the Fox News rule.
I'd say drop it.

some news sources tell you up front how they lean others dont.
did we really need a rule to discuss this?

I agree with Weasel, unless that gets me Dawg Housed…..

For someone who wouldn't tolerate a rules lawyer in a wargame why do you keep taking that role here ?

I didn't know there was one.

Seems to me this is exactly the same as politics, just with a slightly different slant.

Another pointless rule.

1. The news source isn't a member.
2. The news source doesn't have feelings.
3. The news source as an organization probably does have political leanings.
4. Identifying the potential political leanings of a news source is part of proper research.

If someone cites the Protocols of the Elders of Zion or Signal magazine as an information source, it's ok to point out that it's biased.

Drop it, another source of pointless confusion.

Keep it, to discourage people from going on about non-gaming topics.

Buff Orpington17 Jan 2016 9:33 a.m. PST

I can't imagine it will do that Scorpio, however much I'd like it.

Any source but Fix News. They make it up as they go along.

You mean…

Rich people,
paying rich people,
to tell middle-class people,
to blame poor people?

Why this obsession by some here with pushing the envelope when it comes to personal attacks, politics, science, religion, and whatever else? This is The Miniatures Page, right? Why here?

If you want to debate politics, why not head over to one of the many sites devoted to it? Afraid of getting your weenie whacked?

You think the NY Times is biased? Same thing. Head on over to their forums and see how you do.
