3rd. More refined than 2nd, more crunchy than 4th. Some of the high-level spells are the fantasy equivalent of A-bombs, but otherwise a pretty balanced and fun ruleset. |

3rd but with some of the more clunky maneuver bits filed off. I did like the edition that took magic back to dice instead of cards. 6th? |

Yes, that was the one, Weasel, and it was damn near perfect. Basic troops rules the battlefield and characters, though still powerful, could never win all by themselves. |

4th started the card spells & items. I DID like that bit. |

Basic troops rules the battlefield and characters, though still powerful, could never win all by themselves. Proper use of magic battle banners tipped that a bit. The only reason to take skaven plague monks was that sweet 100-point banner! |

The original Rogue Trader with second edition. I can personally vouch for the fact that a few RT shuriken catapults will seriously up a Cadillac unit of chaos warriors. |
