If I find the product is to my liking, and it is not too huge, yes.

Moving to POD's as much as possible. The quality of POD's is quite nice, even on the lower end. I have a color laser, which prints duplex, but toner costs are high, and it can stick to the opposite page, over time, especially if it has books stacked atop it.

POD copies use liquid inks, rather than plastic toners, as far as I can tell. By the time I print a copy off, it would have been less expensive to buy the POD… YMMV. Cheers!

No printing of PDFs in this house.

I've a 10.1" screen on my tablet, mre than big enough to read a PDF. It's a Win 10 machine and while I'd preferred Android it cost me £40.00 GBP from Tesco.

The ink for my printer costs £31.00 GBP an XL cartridge.

Won't buy PDFs.

Why do people buy printers that cost so much to run ? For £20.00 GBP I get 2 sets of colours and 4 large black cartridges. Even printing the Rommel rulebook cost me less than a fiver.

In the USA, ink jet cartridges are $30 USD+, each, and the printer either takes 3 different color cartridges, plus one black, or it requires one tri-color plus one black. The tri-color is around the same price, but it has three colors of ink, in small quantities. They all run out quickly, and they're expensive to replace. Companies will sell the printer cheaply, sometimes for less than $30 USD: "Here ya' go, kid. The first one is free…" The ink is pricey, period. Refilling cartridges sucks. Tried it, more than a decade ago, gave up on it: too messy, too much hassle, too poor of results.

I bought a color laser printer thinking it would be less expensive, but it is not. That's why I buy POD, whenever possible. Cheers!

Got to agree. PDF sits on the screen. I sometimes print charts/tables.

Sgt Slag

Do you not have 3rd party suppliers that sell compatible cartridges for inkjets ? HP have some types that you can't buy compatible replacements for but I've not found any others that I can't buy cheaper than using manufacturer's own, overpriced, ones.

It simply isn't true that the cheaper cartridges are poor quality or damage your printer. If you buy from a reputable supplier and a quality brand you will get good ink and a much better price.

I've been using them on Epson, Cannon & other printers for many years with no problems.

I tried mostly HP printers. Then I found a Brother printer whose cartridges are simple ink reservoirs, no print heads -- the printhead is built into the printer, never being replaced until you replace the printer, itself. Those should have been easy to replace with 3rd party ink cartridges… Didn't work, clogged up the print head, ruining the printer!

Tried 3rd party HP refills, clogged, dried up, whatever, they failed. Gave up on inkjets, period. Hate that the ink re-activates when wetted. Toner is microsopic plastic beads, melted into the paper -- not susceptible to water. Toner has many advantages. I had hoped it would be less expensive in the long run, but I was mistaken. Cheers!
