I think that options like "all of the above" are not necessary.
O sure, it suffices, but it takes away from the fun of picking the absolutely necessary.

"Sexy assistant" fits just about any top five list I can think of. I mean, who doesn't like a sexy assistant.

There are types, and it makes a difference. The potential world-conqueror, the seeker of new dimensions, the re-animator, the neo-alchemist and the quiet fellow who just wants to go on carrying out experiments on unwilling human subjects all require somewhat different labs.

It is true that almost all of them need a table with some sort of restraints, though.

As mad scientists go, John Dee was pretty sane, though there was that English translation of the Necronomicon.
