Since ACW uniforms are not typically that pretty I really do think that 10mm looks best on the table. With OGs strips you can really get a mass effect there.

I don't own any ACW, but if I got into it, I'ld prefer 10mm.

Ditto what Pictor's Studio said.

10mm for me. Not necessarily preferred but it is what I have! The uniforms may not be that pretty but you can make them look pretty darned interesting. They are an irregular looking army after all!

Hmmmmmmmm………no 1/72 20mm.

6mm – Many reasons
-good selection of figures and terrain
-realistic ranges and ground scale
-ability to fight large battles

Other – 20mm aka 1/72nd aka Airfix plastics

25/28mm gives a player the option of sprcifying family members on the table.

zulugamer24 Sep 2014 6:21 p.m. PST

20mm is the way to go.

Other – 1/72 plastics.

There is a huge variety available, including 6 horse gun teams, for instance.

Local/regional availability also is an important factor.

54mm.

I have 6mm, 15mm, 28mm and 54mm – of them all, I game most often in 15mm but that is probably because I have the most figs in that scale (for the time being) – I am adding more 6mm, though

If I was starting it all over I would probably go 10mm rather than 6mm and 15mm, but that bus left the station 30 years ago

TunnelRat29 Sep 2014 5:01 a.m. PST

It has to be 15mm for me.

25s followed by 54s.

It appears, and I agree, that 20mm – 1/72 is missing form the options.

Sold off my Airfix 1/72 last year and transferred into RSM/Musket metal.

Best size for detail and mass battles.

I thought long and hard before the replacement. The 15mm or smaller would have had the mass and the 25mm would have had the detail, but 20mm had both.

40mm

john lacour15 Oct 2014 3:48 p.m. PST

15mm.

Double G13 Nov 2014 4:09 p.m. PST

20mm for me.

All of my figures are metal; Musket, RSM, Kennington, Newline Design, SHQ, Qualitycast and Woodensfield, plus "small" 25mm from Frontier, Confederals and a smattering of Dixon and even Sash and Sabre.

Such a huge variety available in 20mm/small 25mm.
