The curse/the attraction of interesting/appealing figures! Not "don't like" as much as "distinctly under used" 15mm Aztecs bought on the sight of Tin Soldier's figures. 15mm Anglo Danish on the sight of Two Dragon's command stands. And of course they are both massive armies with lots of (points wise but not pound wise) cheap levies to get anywhere near an army list requirement. |

I like every army I have ever bought. Some might not be as effective as others, but usually those are the ones I like the most. Everyone can win with an easy army, winning with a poor one is the challange and I have always felt that wargaming should be about challanges! Cheers, Burkhard |

Warmachine was my most recent folly. Bought and painted a Cryx force before realising just how much I disliked the game. At least with the clicky stuff I haven't wasted any time painting it

same as streetline, wow does the cryx stuff look good, but ooooh, what a waste of time the game is. regards jim |

Change "and" to "or" and I have a few examples. Gracias, Glenn |

I've never got as far as an army before realising a project wasn't for me. The few things I've finished I've enjoyed playing with. |

Nah. I am usually pretty good in deciding what I'm interested in before hand. I may impulse purchase but it's for things I already have an interest in. Thanks, John |

I've got as far as buying some or all of an army before realising it was a mistake (I too was stung by Warmachine) but never got as far as painting a full army before discovering my folly. That would really hurt! |

I only buy things I like to paint. That helps. |

Not totally wrong
but needing a rethink perhaps. |

I'm with Parmenion here. Since I usually buy pairs of armies – to avoid the problem of the other guy quiting a project I'm working on – my mistakes have been rather costly. |

Not the wrong Army, but a couple times bought into a period that did not fly, usually a couple armies worth. |

I don't have any miniatures I regret buying because the army/period turned out not to be what I wanted. |

Not the armies themselves, but either the rules really didn't pan out or some of the people in a particular group sucked all the joy out of playing a particular period. |

I only buy armies that I want but some don't get painted very fast. My Belisarian Byzantines have in the bag for 10+ years as are my Dilgar Fleet Action B-5 ships! |

Armies, games, you name it. I now know never to buy any rank-and-file games, ever. Lesson learned. Repeatedly. |
| drsid20 | 06 Jan 2009 11:29 a.m. PST |
CMG's. After impulsively wasting money on them, I realize I hate when I don't know what the heck I'm getting. never again. |
Der Alte Fritz | 06 Jan 2009 1:03 p.m. PST |
Never a problem with whole armies, on the otherhand, there have been figures that I bought where once I started painting them, I realized that I just didn't like painting those particular figures. I have some SYW Hungarians that I really not very fond of. |

I put things off forever. That gives me time to make sure I like an army a long time before the cash flows. To be honest, I think there are few (historic) armies I would dislike and that's 80% (or more) of my miniature gaming. |

I (and my son) have shamelessly bought other people's mistakes for pennies on the dollar. Sometimes (as in the case of WWI ground stuff) people just give me their stuff. mjc |

There is no such thing as the wrong army. |

New Kingdom Egyptians in 15mm for DBM. Built the whole thing including ships and baggage and just never enjoyed playing them. Sold them at cost. |

When I was Young and Stupid, Warhammer High Elves. Stupid s couldn't even harm some things, as their no weapon in their arsenal was strong enough to do the job. |

Not often, but a couple of times – in both cases, the armies were gifts that I painted up but never played – the first being a WarMaster Empire Army, which I still have (I mean, with the big interest in 10mm, eventually someone in our club will get another Army) and the second being a Flames of War German infantry company, which I dutifully painted – then never used – especially when I realized that my two interests in WWII were Grand Tactical (6 mm) and skirmish (28 mm) – so I gave them to a friend who assures me that they will see lots of action |

Warmachine also died with my gaming group.I didn't get to play enough to really comment on the rules. I sold my Khador army for just about what I spent on it – so I still enjoyed collecting and painting it. |
