Other than aircraft and WW2 ships I avoid anything past 1913.

Hadn't heard of it before – and it follows have never seen it.

Ambush Alley Games20 May 2015 7:19 a.m. PST

I didn't watch it, believe it or not.

The book was good, though. As was Nathan Fick's ONE BULLET AWAY, which is a narrative of the same events written by the platoon leader of the platoon Evan Wright wrote about in GENERATION KILL. I highly recommend both books.

I only watched one or two episodes. I am terrible about watching shows.

I enjoyed the book though.

Winston Smith20 May 2015 10:12 a.m. PST

Never heard of it.

Martian Root Canal20 May 2015 11:10 a.m. PST

The book was quite good. The series, unfortunately, took a political stance (surprise). Some of it was good cinema. Some it was not.

So which Iraq War?

There are so many of them.

GENERATION KILL is about the march up to Baghdad in 2003. ;)

The disappointing thing for wargamers is that all of the fighting is "hand waved" – nice pictures of things blowing up, but little attempt to depict any real tactics.

I rather enjoyed it. Watched it again recently on Amazon Prime.

Didn't watch it. It's too close to home. I had family involved. Same reason I don't watch most movies post WWII.

Myself or family members, or close friends were involved in all those events, so once you've been there/done that, it's hard to see some Hollyweirdos take on it.

I liked it, they at least got the gear, uniforms, weapons and how Marines speak correct. I wasn't there for the 2003 invasion but made it in country for 2005. I watch it while I paint my 20mm figures for Ambush Alleys FOF.
