How does a wargamer look?

With their eyes!

TunnelRat28 Nov 2014 7:51 a.m. PST

How can anyone 'look' like a Wargamer when there is no such thing as a typical gamer?

Mooseworks828 Nov 2014 7:57 a.m. PST

If nerd t-shirt wearing, hadn't bathed in a week, with unkempt hair gamer, than NO.

what do wargamers look like??

The most common look at the cons is an overweight Heisenburg (Walter White): Bald, glasses, goatee.

From every view point on the gaming floor you can identify one of those in virtually all directions.

Ron W DuBray28 Nov 2014 8:30 a.m. PST

but there are people that look like that and you can see them the same way in every group of people no matter what they are doing. even just walking down a city street and see 5 on every block.

Martin Rapier28 Nov 2014 8:36 a.m. PST

Do I look like these guys?

Wargamers have the same thing in common with homicidal maniacs-they can look like anyone.

Games have rules. Gamers don't.

Weasel29 Nov 2014 11:13 a.m. PST

From the local gaming store, the average gamer is a 14 year old kid with an anime shirt so no, don't look like that :-)

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP29 Nov 2014 12:28 p.m. PST

I am tall, middle aged and dress casually when gaming – which means, for our local historical gamers, I fit right in

Weasel is right, though – I am about 30 years too old for the Games Workshop crowd, though

ciaphas29 Nov 2014 5:12 p.m. PST

As middle aged white guy I am stereo typed in my club. but I might not be somewhere else.

When I wargame, I always dress like a ballerina. I dunno why. Just want to be comfy, I guess.

Karellian Knight01 Dec 2014 9:49 a.m. PST

Male of female ballerina? Inquiring minds need to know.

However on second thoughts…

Cyrus the Great01 Dec 2014 4:21 p.m. PST

Since I wargame, I must look like a wargamer.

Mute Bystander01 Dec 2014 4:42 p.m. PST

Cyrus the Great,

Exactly.

What Cyrus said. Logic triumphs.

Mute Bystander02 Dec 2014 4:21 a.m. PST

Wait… I am guilty of using Logic?

That can't be right…

Wulfgar02 Dec 2014 7:14 a.m. PST

Just my strange sense of humor, Karellian. My daughter was a serious dancer for several years, and I was trusted to help a lot backstage. Fun times.

Guess that is a question of the individual's interpretations and core belief of what they think a wargamer should look like – sorta like Rorschach Ink Blot – (hehe)

I wish she was the 'typical' wargamer … (sigh)

Lentulus03 Dec 2014 7:49 a.m. PST

Years ago I met a group of Gamers at a pub in the UK (some of the members, great hosts all, may still be here). I could not tell any one person that came in was a gamer; but once three were sitting at the same table I knew they were a group of gamers. I have no idea how, but I could. And I fit in.

Terrement03 Dec 2014 1:19 p.m. PST

I am a war gamer, and I look like myself, therefore I look like a wargamer.
