Heroscape: Road to the Forgotten Forest

It's a terrain expansion for Heroscape, but will non-Heroscape gamers be attracted by the trees?

Maybe enforce a bit tighter, but certainly not ratchet down a lot. Marie Antoinette may not have been a war movie, (didn't see it), but the Dauphine is certainly a prominent enough figure to be part of a Revolution wargame.

I think that if the poster can make it directly wargaming related, fine.

e.g. "There is neat battle in 'movie X' that I'd love to game. What rules and figs would you suggest?"
This is ok in my book.

Not:
"Check out 'movie x'."

Or a link to a movie that shows a battle, but the poster has expressed no interest in gaming it. Just showing off the link to the movie.

Those should be left on the TMP Plus board.

My two pence.

If not "Marie Antoinette", what about Great Catherine?
Catherine the Great (Jeanne Moreau) and Captain Edstastone (Peter O'Toole) reenact the Battle of Bunker Hill in her … apartments. grin

I think the current enforcement policy of Benign Neglect should be followed.
If you feel you MUST intervene, put in a note that says "Hey! don't do that again, or I will get mad!"
One pretty annoying thing on TMP is to have a nice discussion nuked because of the inability of transferring to a Plus Board. That is just crazy.
Fix that in TMP 4.0, so all you have to do is trnasfer the topic.

F'rinstance…
I will readily admit that "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" does not belong on "19th Century Media" (or despite it's link to the Rape of the Sabine Women on Ancients Media), because except for the dance scenes, there is little to wargame, but if a good discussion is going on about it, zap it to Movies.

Sure, why not.

Don't really care all that much as it's not a high priority for MY usage of TMP.

There may be no licensed rules for Harry Potter, but there are plenty of rules (not to mention just homebrew stuff) and plenty of models (licensed and look-alikes).

So I don't think a "licensed only" approach makes sense. Consider the following titles which are regularly gamed or discussed with no "authentic" gaming products offered:

The Chronicles of Narnia
Redwall series
Stargate
Battlestar Galactica
Various anime SF stuff
Sharpe's Whatevers
Pick your fantasy novel, somebody's gaming it.
Tron
Ice Pirates
Niven's Universe
Lensman
Time Patrol
War of the Worlds
Dr. Who
Flash Gordon
etc.

And for that matter, licensed products for The Lord of the Rings and whatnot are a fairly new phenomena. We were gaming LotR back in the '80s before anybody put out anything licensed.

So the "loose" ruling makes the most sense.

Besides, consider the following— do you really want to rule out the question, "Wow, I love this book/tv series. What rules and figures would be good for gaming it?"
That's the heart of the hobby, right there!

Keep the rule.

Keep not enforcing it.

I can't say I 've noticed it being abused, but unless it's really cluttering things up (and I wouldn't say it was) they why change things?

Except that asking the question at all changes things. Could everyone please forget the question was asked in the first place?

I agree with advocate.
