timlillig in the pre-poll discussion was quite right. The time required for a decent-looking table is not on the day of the game. We spend that time beforehand preparing the terrain.

No choice in the poll that resonated with me. We do play "fast games" of two to three hours, but one of us always sets up the table beforehand. It looks decent.

"So with all the 2+ hour games in vogue…"

I question that assumption. I have never seen or anyone in my club playing these two hour wargames. I have been a member for 13 years.

I usually play at my house, so I set up the night before. As much work as I put in to setting up the table, a two hour game would not be worth the trouble.

I don't see anywhere that this poll takes into effect the changing of clocks for Daylight Savings Time? Definitely will skew the data output.

Club games are at a hired venue, so we have always been time restricted to about 3 to 3.5 hours. Terrain is used accordingly, still plays an important part in the game. You just have to work around the time available for the battle and the terrain.

I put time into building scenery outside of game time. Actually setting up a table to play goes pretty quick, as does take down and packing up after.

Fast-play rules don't take me any more or less time to set up. I use the same terrain.
