Unless of course you see them and the 'ooh, shiny, must have' factor takes over making them an impulse buy. 24 hours later you look at them realising they are for a period/scale/game you are never likely to get into. Been there, seen that, done it & lost money selling the figures on at a later date! Doh!

You can always sell them.

Well, generally, you never regret buying 'quality' anything …

As I have noted in the past, my hobby is wargaming, not painting.

I have never bought already painted figures and probably never will.

I repaint any second hand pre-painted figures I buy.

I would certainly regret paying someone else to paint them for me!

I can't buy painted figs. I have this thing about having to paint them, to make them "my" figs.

I have never had figures painted by a painting service. I have bought from flea markets. I got an amazing deal at Fall-in this month, for example. I never regret that because I have gotten nice figures and put a little cash in the pocket of a fellow gamer.

The more I don't have to paint the better.

I will never regret painting figures well… grin At least I think…when it happens, I will post…

I have bought some very well painted cavalry and use them all the time

The great majority of the time, the fact that the minis are painted is incidental. I have bought many Rogue Trader era minis with paint jobs from "meh" to "yuck" (I won't claim my contemporary paint jobs were any better), and immediately stripped them. Like, into the jar within a minute of opening the package.

I can't buy painted figs. I have this thing about having to paint them, to make them "my" figs.

I 95% feel that way, but I have a few "modern" minis that happened to be quite nicely painted, and it saved me the trouble. More than likely I would strip them, re-prime them, and then they'd gather d6 years of dust.

Also, a few really old minis with "characterful" paint jobs, that seem like they might have a few war stories to tell. I like that, so painted they shall remain.

True because I will never buy painted Figs/Minis

I buy painted minis off of ebay, flea markets, game weekend sales tables, etc. I only buy stuff I can use. If the painting is within the range of what I can do, or better, then it's usually rebased to match the army it's going to be serving with and then onto the table! Otherwise, it's into te stripping bin to await a fresh paint scheme when I can get to it.

I've never used a painting service, and likely never will.

I regret some of the "Ohh, Shiny" but never a well painted figure.
