Alas, I have not visited any of the final selections. Maybe someday…

Battle field parks might be run by the park service but the natural wonders parks are what the park service is/ should be all about( sorry acw guys) they draw for far more visitors because they are not a niche market

I have seen all 3 non battle field parks and while I do plan to visit Gettysburg this year I have been to the others more than once and its taken me 55 years to finally do Gettysburg for the 1st time. I truly wonder if seeing a site of mass carnage will have the same sense of awe for me as redwoods, old faithful and the massive canyon did.

It was a tough choice for me between Gettysburg and the Grand Canyon. The other choices I hadn't been to. I rode past Antietam once.

Gettysburg reminds you of the human sacrifice made to keep our nation together and strong. The landscape is beautiful and as a wargamer it's exciting to walk the same ground that I've read so much about. I've been 4 or 5 times.

Last fall My wife and I were out west visiting several NPs. We had not planned to go to the Grand Canyon as I had been 4 times before and wanted to see some other parks. However things worked out that we went to the Grand Canyon. It was just as spectacular the 5th time as the first.

I voted for the Grand Canyon.

I am torn between voting for the natural wonders and their awe inspiring beauty, and voting for a place made sacred by the sacrifices of so many.

In the end, I think of National Parks as places of nature, preserved for future generations to enjoy. So while I have been to all of the final selections except Antietam, I went for Yellowstone.
