I have to admit that I was almost completely ignorant of these two wars until quite recently when I read several histories of the end years of both the Russian Empire and the Ottoman Empire. I was amazed at what a pivotal role those wars (and the regions involved) had on the fates of not just Russia and the Ottomans, but on Europe as well. Everyone knows of how the assassination of the Austrian Archduke led to World War I, but that war might easily have broken out in 1912 instead. I've never gamed those conflicts, but there is certainly a fascinating cast characters involved. |

I know nothing about either but would happily game either war. |

You paint the figures and set up the game and I'll be there. Knowing nothing about either war (except that Serbs were probably involved…), I won't have the baggage of always wanting to play the Forces of Good. It would be like playing a Samurai Civil War. I couldn't pronounce the names and would have no idea why I am fighting. Push figures, roll dice, drink beer. |

Don't worry, John, from my readings, there weren't any good guys in those wars :) |

"Some damn fool thing in the Balkans, not worth the life of one Pomeranian grenadier." I wish all statesmen thought that way. |

I salute the Megali Idea of Greece! |

It certainly was a grand – or grandiose – idea I have not gamed either but would love to – no preference for me |

Definitely the 1st. I have my Bulgarian and Greek Armies finished and am working on the Turkish forces. I hope to have a small handful of Montenegrins bought at Historicon. That means that I just need to get Serbs and I am ready. For the 2nd, who makes Romanians? Nobody. |

Romanians, it depends on the scale. At smaller scales (10 to 3 mm, and perhaps 15mm) you can get by with Early War Austrians. Romanians though are more for what if, as they did not face any serious opposition in their march through Bulgaria. |
