You know, I was about to comment that everyone has bad days, and the French army has had many good days as well. But of the battles listed, three effectively ended a French government and a fourth pretty much doomed an empire. Other nations have certainly lost empires and changed governments, but not many on particular bad days. |

Dien Bien Phu was a very bad "day", but the French weren't going to keep Indo-China whatever they did. Just maybe it resolved the issue in one battle rather that remaining a running sore. |

Tough choice. There are more you could add, Rossbach and Quebec come to mind. Although we just did Rossbach last Saturday. The French won this time! |

Was a tough choice – I picked Gravelotte-St Privat rather than Sedan as the outcome at Sedan was kind of decided earlier |
