You know, at least half that list could be done with figures and rules currently available--in several cases, you could actually use the Team Yankee figures and rules. Could we not--and I realize this may be construed as heresy--try producing things for which good models are NOT currently available? And focus rules writing on periods and levels for which we DON'T have serviceable rules? And allow me to point out that darn near everything on that list is still under copyright, the operating premise seems to be that I should be willing to pay extra to fight "cold war gone hot" battles with Red Storm Rising (TM) or Red Army (TM) figures and rules instead of buying existing tanks from H&R and using the same moderns rules I'd use otherwise. News for everyone. |

Any James Cobb novel would do ( Though "Seafighter" would be my choice ) |

The Destroyermen series could generate some interesting modes. I agree with Robert though that many of these choices can be done just fine with existing rules and miniatures. |

Another vote for Taylor Anderson's Destroyermen series. Griks, 'Cats, Silva, Petey, Lawrence, Doms… Lots of great sculpting potential, and the battle attire ranges from WWII BAR to muskets, crossbows and spears… and that's without considering the sea and air conflicts! Peashooters, P40s, PBYs, grikbirds, dirigibles, side wheel steamers, 'Cat Homes, the Walker, Grik "East Indiamen," etc… It's a gamer's dream war! I'll also vote for Phillip Reeve's Hungry City Chronicles and Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan trilogy as prime candidates for original models and great conflict settings. |
