Other: Submarines always "ping" whenever underwater. I spent my Navy career in ASW. Using active sonar is like turning on a flashlight in a dark room. It let's everyone else know just where you are. |

There will be/have been times when any of these are/were true. The military is no less prone to stupid actions and attitudes than any other organisation but nor is it likely to encounter them any more often. |

The point though GildasFacit is that for Hollywood these are universal truths. |
