Yes, but only rarely.

Not really, though there might have figured a Dwarfish submarine in some long ago session of Man O' War.

When I saw the poll title I thought it meant "do you fill in for other gamers as needed?"

I knew it didn't refer to sandwiches. That would just be silly.

Not since the late 1960s, but then it was with real subs. While serving on the submarine rescue ship Greenlet we would take part in tactical exercises off Maui. If our sonar located an "enemy" sub we would depth charge it with hand grenades! Ah, those were the days of real war gaming…

Doesn't work. Back in the day I was submarine weapons officer. Usually I have some technical/tactical/sensor question (which is entirely reasonable if you were a sub officer) in tbe first 10 minutes which stumps the ref as it's not in the rules and they have to Kriegspiel it from there. Some refs are good (naval or sub geeks), most sort of flail. I've learned it is best to avoid sub games for that reason.

Silly? What is silly about being rewarded with a slice of a submarine sammich when you achieve an objective point during a scenario? This VP system actually created secondary influence on victory as different sammiches came on line, for which different people had different preferences. It actually changed players' tactical/strategic action balance.

Frequently. Dystopian Wars 2.5 has a variety of submarines and semi-submersible vessels and the rules mechanics make them a tactically useful options no matter what one's faction is.

I've designed a card game as a light sub war game, but it's not really a minis game. My group likes it, so that's a positive!

I really wanted to say "No, that is beneath me" but I won't.

Ive never played any. And have only seen one played twice in 2019, it looked interesting.
But from what Im seeing. Good bet, we're not going to be over run with Sub based games anytime soon (ever?).
