Interesting that this says what do you think, not what do you do
which is put them in boxes and store them intending to sell them "someday." |
| Martin Rapier | 15 May 2008 4:49 a.m. PST |
Yes, put them in boxes in the attic. |

no option of 'paint them up and then sell them' regards jim |

Unwanted figures? I don't understand

After figs have sat collecting dust and I realize they aren't going to get finished in the forseeable future, I post here on TMP. I used to eBay them straight off, but with fees and PayPal and all that, I find I can avoid all that hassle here. (Thanks Bill, BTW) |

No option for "Throw them out"? |

Actually the same way I accquire figures! |

My firm belief is that their miniatures are unto Gamers, like their horde is unto Dragons. Don't touch my minis and I'll let you live! MWAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is this "get rid of figures" anyway? I don't understand. |

I am in agreement with the Mackster x42 |

My first, best option for clearing out space is the silent auction at RockCon. I selected "convention flea market/bring & buy", as that's the closest, but it's not really accurate. My local store also has live auctions a couple of times a year that are extremely popular. Any chance to add a choice for live/silent auction? |

I've sold some on Ebay – have more to list on Ebay – but usually offer them to TMP members first at the initial starting price for Ebay auctions to see if anyone here will give them a good home and fill my coffers a bit to replace them with things I do want now. |

You left out barter. I do a lot of horse trading to get stuff that I need (like a single figure or a small number of figs that comprise a special unit). mjc |

If I can't sell them on eBay, direct or at a convention -- or trade 'em, they become spare parts or I put a "free" sign on them at the local gaming club meeting. |

The collectable ones get sold on eBay. The good ones get traded online or at the local club. The really naughty ones are headed for the Prince August moulds

Ebay, generally, although if I see a "wanted" request here or on any of the other sites I haunt I'll sell or trade direct by preference. I'm even willing to hit the local store for people if the shop has wanted stuff in the discount bins or collecting dust, as a number of TMPers can testify. Wish more people did that

I've given quite a few away, most go on the shelf because "I'll need that some day!" ;-). I've talked trade, but it's never come together. Don. |

Well, unwanted figures are like fine wines – if stored long enough you will come across them one day and be glad they stayed! Or, send them to me. I need lead. Especially old old lead like Dragontooth and Archive. (insert hopeful grin here) Dave |

I've sold a fair amount on e-bay, but their new structure doesn't really support selling anything other than high-priced pieces. I haven't been able to get Wargames Market to work the way I want but I've managed to make some people very happy selling or trading directly through TMP. Now, who wants a whole bunch of Ral Parth and Grenadiers from the 70's and 80's? Wyatt |
| WeeSparky | 15 May 2008 8:03 p.m. PST |
I put them in the same box where I put all my extra money and excess free time. |

Unwanted figures? If I didn't want them, I'd not have them in the first place, right? Actually, we seem to be the local repository for 'unwanted' lead in this area -- at least among our friends. One day I will have a grand sort out, and really see about off-loading some. And one day I'll have a cool million to spend as I please. Really. |

I'm interested in the classic Ral Partha & Grenadier lines. Will send you a PM. – A |

Don't have a lot of unwanted (although lots of unpainted) – I give away any I don't want if I can find a suitable host |

Recently, I've been giving extra Dark Age/Ancients to my nephews to use with their D&D games. |

| A Geek Named Carl | 16 May 2008 9:57 p.m. PST |
Usually if I have something for a long period of time and have never gotten around to painting it, I usually trade it away
but it seems I always want if again later when I don't have it
I think that's a sign of addiction.. |
| ming31 | 17 May 2008 6:52 a.m. PST |
While not flea or bring and buy I do trade with friends |
