It really depends what version my group was playing. |

Rulesmiths no doubt see each change as an improvement--or at least an excuse to put the arm on the players again. But even though I'm not well-connected among wargamers, I can think of several instances in which the improvements caused considerable dismay, and one in which it required rebasing armies. And I note that when I came to TMP for advise on rules lately, I was directed to a specific older edition of the rules. No doubt there is some innate conservatism, and even a genuinely good idea can be a problem with people who don't play often and are used to the old system. But the hard truth is, just because you wrote one set of rules which found a market, it does not follow that all your later ideas are good. |

I would and have. I have 3 copies of the 40K 3rd edition rules now, 2 years ago I only had 1. |

I have most editions of WH40K. I still prefer the 4th edition. I also bought a number of older Codecii for various armies, as many had some great ideas, fluff, images, etc that I found either enjoyable to read, or handy to have for both backstory and ideas on building my version of that particular army. And as RP states above, just because it's newer, doesn't mean it's better. While some claim that WAB 2.0 fixed all the alleged problems with earlier variants, many, myself included, feel that WAB 1.5 was just fine as it was, and continue to use it. |

Sure. I own many older edition rules, and have sought them out. |

It can be nice to have multiple copies so more than one person playing the game can have a copy of the rules, particularly if there are various charts and graphs to have to check. Also, there is a market for used rules, so someone is buying them. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

Agree – not much point having Ultimate Panzer Warmaster Battles 3.0 if your buddies use 1.0 Also as noted some of the older rule sets may be more what you want in a set of rules – notably for WarHammer 40K |

Yes. GQ3 was released a few years ago, but GQ1/2 still has a strong following and those rulebooks have just been reprinted. |
