Same as all the others.

Some of the Heroic 15's really have crossed the threshold into Wimpy 20's.

It is a total crisis!

Scale creep or no, in 15's is and has been less noticeable than with 25's…er, I mean 28's…um, no, "Heroic-Scale" – whatever.

That's why I voted 3.4166. Or would have, if these polls were the least bit concerned with accuracy.

It is not a problem, it is the mark of a bad sculptor. If you can't model to scale, then don't.

0 where manufacturers stick to their designated size … 10 where they don't. Sometimes I hack the figures about to correct bad work, sometimes I just don't buy.

Hopefully 15mm won't go the way of 25mm! Some '28's are easily bigger than the 30mm flats that were sculpted two generations ago (but still look much better!) …

Ah well …

Peter Pig is incompatible with Blue Moon – even in separate units.

Once incompatibility is the norm then what does it mean to say you game in 15mm? Nothing. Maybe it should be renamed "between 10mm and 20mm"

Crisis? Sheesh!

It's a major problem in that there just isn't enough of it. 25mm is now 32-35mm, therefore 15mm should now be Gods True Scale (tm) & (c) of 20mm or 1/72nd.

I say eight because my battle honors dont match with AB, but since I switched to 28mm guess it dosent matter.

The new, larger figures should be advertised as 18mm, not 15mm.

Skeptic05 Jul 2012 7:42 p.m. PST

I haven't yet mesaured them, but Battlefront's Gebirgsjager pioneers seem noticeably taller than some of their other figures…

It would be better if either there were more brick and mortar stores where one could see various figures and compare before purchase. As once was the case. Or companies doing buisness on the net were more honest about their product. Maybe they could compare their wares to established norms. "Our 15 mm figures compare in size with Miniature Figurines". as an example. As long as nobody's trashing anybody else there should be few problems.
Another way would be to say one's figures are 18mm.
Do not disappoint your customers! False advertising is an invitation to adverse legal action.
Of course, there are forums like this one…

I rated it a 5.

I actually prefer the newer 18mm figs, but their not being really compatible with true 15mm figures is a concern.

It's there, but not to the extent I have seen in other scales. Does anyone even bother to talk about 25mm anymore?

Does anyone even bother to talk about 25mm anymore?

Yes. since I own thousands of old school Minifigs, Hinchcliffe, Ral Partha, etc.

On the other hand, since I own no 15mm figures, I rate the question as a zero.

I talk about how I can sell off my 25mm GZG figs?

There aren't too many companies producing new 25mms these days.

What I find interesting is that true 15mm figures went out the door with most companies about 20 years ago. There are still companies producing more true to size 15mm, but then they started those lines prior to scale creep and have stayed true to their figures.

Basically, when I started to wargame the ACW 15mm back in the mid 1980's, this problem existed.

Creeps are too tall compared to PPig, Essex, Stone Mtn, Musket Minis, etc. They are too small for Stone Mtn 22s, and some other 20mm scale(Can't remember who they are).

I don't have a problem in 15mm – I am only expanding my SF in that scale, and not so much with the humans.

10mm scale creep is a problem. Unless you have really old 15s, in which case for you it is actually a solution.

So how long before folks with old 25mm armies can start recruiting 15mm to fill them out?

Scott Kursk Inactive Member10 Jul 2012 10:57 a.m. PST

I think that there should be a regulatory authority that judges scale creep, not only for 15mm but frankly all scales. One that can scientifically, objectively, and indeed subjectively judge the scale of each and every new mini and compare them to existing product lines etc.

I for one will throw myself on the grenade and volunteer for that role. It'll be hard, but I'm willing to do it. So if all the manufacturers would just send their old stock (for comparison purposes of course) and one set of every new one they produce.

I'm like Mother Thereasa in that way.
