If I hear that bombastic crap "Ride of the Valkyries" one more time….. |

I'm rather fond of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" used to great effect in "Excalibur". |

See, Winston? Hearing "Ride of the Valkyries" really does make you went to go out and attack someone. Personally, I find it's theater and army dependent. I don't do helicopters, and if I want to do German armor in the attack, it's the Panzerlied in Europe and "Panzer Rollen in Afrika vor" for North Afrika. (For defense, obviously, it's "Wacht am Rhein.") Same thing with other periods and armies. |

I agree that the movie "Excalibur" had excellent music. Besides Orff's Carmina Burana it had a lot of Wagner's great music from some of his other operas. There is much more to Wagner than just his Ride of the Valkyries. |

Robert – not Lili Marlene? Good for both sides.. |

I enjoy Lili Marlene, but it doesn't make me want to go out and attack anyone, which was the original point. I like "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" too, but it doesn't get the Cuirser tanks rolling. Sometimes the theme from "A Bridge too Far" works and as far as I'm concerned, "British Grenadiers" works for anything from Marlborough on For WWII US, there is always the Patton March, but France and Italy are troublesome. The 2me DM March always sounds to me like a vehicle with a flat tire, and for Italy all I've ever managed to do is play the Charioteers March from Ben Hur and hope for the best. Any suggestions? |

Oh. There is this, of course. But I know it's cheating. YouTube link |

Highland Laddie, since most of my armies manage to employ Highlanders on one form or other. |

I know this will sound crazy, but the soundtrack from "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword," is outstanding, and always leaves me in a very medieval mood. I wish the movie itself had been as good as the soundtrack. It can be found on Spotify. Track #25 always puts me in mind of the Normans looking up Senlac Hill at the waiting Saxons, just before beginning their first assault. |
