Sumer - Jemdet Nasr | The Sumerians established a nation of city-states in Sumer in the fourth millennium B.C. It is one of the earliest known historic civilizations. According to legend, the Great Flood occured during the Jemdet Nasr period (3,200 to 2,900 BC.)

Old Kingdom Egyptian | Egypt's civilization developed in the valley of the Nile over 5,000 years ago. The rival kingdoms of Upper and Lower Egypt were united as a centralized state around 3,200 B.C. During the Old Kingdom (3,110 - 2,258 B.C.) Egyptian culture and commerce flourished, and the great pyramids were built.

Middle Kingdom Egyptian | A period of anarchy ended around 2,000 B.C. with the establishment of the Middle Kingdom in Egypt. Civilization again flourished until 1,786 B.C., when the land fell under the rule of foreign nomads (the Hyksos).

Nubian | Ancient Nubia ruled over portions of northeastern Africa (including portions of modern Sudan and Egypt).

Guti | The Guti (Quti) were barbarian raiders originating in the Zagros highlands (Gutium) of western Iran. Their enemies said they had the intelligence of dogs and the faces of monkeys. Brought down the Akkad empire.
