I think that the most dignified armies fall into two broad classes.
  1. Chariot armies. Real Men ride into battle standing up.
  2. Lace Wars. You can't beat powdered Whigs, beauty spots, snuff boxes and bowing to the enemy for dignity. Dynastic squabbles with muskets have a class and tone that the more vulgar conflicts lack.
