Personally 1 to 20 does it for me, my ACW, Napoleonic, FIW, AWI, WSS, WAS, Ancients, rennassiance and medieval armies are all in this scale in 28mm, makes for a lot of troops, but it has presence on a table and I like Brigade and divisional type battles.

I have tried many other scales, I have a Lace wars Imagination in 1 to 100 for Might and Reason, and a 7yw 15mmm Russian army in 1 to 10 but these armies match what the rest of the guys are doing at the club. I also have a lot of skimish minis which are 1 to 5 or 1 to 1.

cheers
matt

I was playing Shako II at the club and was admiring the club minis. The French were in units of twelve figs (three stands of four figs), and the cav in units of eight figs (two stands of four figs). Somehow I felt that that the units, especially the inf, were too thin.

I was looking at my General de Brigade rules, but those units at 1:20 looked far too big.

So for a unit (bat), how big do you like your units? What ratio do you prefer?
