I once planned a holiday to the other side of the world, timing it to coincide with a major game convention – but it fell through and I never made it. Next year I am planning a big holiday to Europe and will take side trips out to the sites of some important battles, but unfortunately will miss out on some conventions while I'm there – ho hum!

Do you plan your family vacation to coincide with a gaming convention? Do you bring the family along or just attend yourself? Do you stay at a con's hotel, commute from home, or find a cheaper/better nearby hotel?

For me, Cold Wars just happened to be during my Spring Break and trip to Pennsylvania. I had reservations at the Host but canceled them, staying at my folks in Reading so we could spend as much time with my Dad as possible since he was feeling better than expected. Would have been nice to stay at the Host. Wife came for one hour on Friday only - that was her limit! (She commented on the smell.)
