Fair enough, 20th, and nicely done. I have changed my vote to Captain Blood, since the Renaissance now extends to 1700, and I'll have my crow fried.

And as token of my submission, a quote from Allison Montclair's A ROYAL AFFAIR:

"Just the ones who went to Oxford."

But you do realize that when we do a poll on Renaissance generals, you are now obliged to see that Edward III and the Duke of Marlborough are both nominees, don't you?
