Thanks, Privateer that's a sound approach.
For years now we're mixing the miniatures we like with the rules we prefer.

cheers Thomas

Now this is a good one: Which would you prefer to play, Warhammer Fantasy Battles from GW or Mantic Games' Kings of War?

In terms of cost alone, I think Mantic Games wins hands down, because the WFB 8th Edition rulebook alone is $80 USD, and the King of War rules are free.

Then there's the fact that every plastic Mantic Games model I've seen yet has been no more than $1 USD per model, it becomes clear who would win this fight if it were all about dollars and common sense.

Although GW does make some amazing-looking models, and even with their continued price hikes almost every summer anymore, they still do make a good product, with very high production values all around. That much can't be taken away from GW. Evil Empire they may be, but they do make really nice stuff.

If money was no object I'd go GW, but when my wallet says Mantic Games would win this one without much of a fight.
