The Dozing Dragon writes:

My dad got me some plastic large scale cowboys from somewhere in Europe in the 60s which opened my young eyes. I moved onto Airfix into the 70s, found Airfix magazine in Smiths, sent off for a Peter Laing and Skytrex sample and gave up on metal when they arrived! Stuck with plastics till finding Military Modelling and got taken to Northern Militaire in 74 (still have the prgramme somewhere). Minifig's customer service put me off completely so I managed with Hinchliffe historicals before discovering the joys of Asgard then Citadel then GW etc.

Ascent wonders...

I know they are considered as the Evil Empire, but how many people out there started with Games Workshop before moving on to other areas? Personally, I started with Rogue Trader when it first came out, and I very much doubt that I'd be doing historical stuff if I hadn't. I know there are a lot of people out there who started before GW set up, but there must be quite a few who started through this route.
