At a Major show, I expect to see high quality terrain. If I'm cruising through and your doing a demo on a plain green felt mat, I'm wondering how much you really care about this game you want me to buy. That being said, I'm not a gaming snob. If you have a felt base and appropriate looking terrain on top of it, great. This is the best and easiest way to do tournaments, especially large ones. |

A while ago, one of us struck a nerve when he innocently remarked: In my opinion, the terrain and scenery [at Historicon] was not up to last year's level. Many of the games were played on green felt mats, rather than the spectacular homemade terrain I saw last year. So - is felt terrain suitable for use in a game event at a major show? | |
definitely | Yes - there's nothing wrong with felt terrain. |
|---|---|
mostly | Felt terrain is OK, as long as it's good felt terrain, and as long as it's not the whole show... |
mostly not | Felt terrain should be discouraged, but not forced out completely... |
absolutely not | Felt terrain is inappropriate for a major show. |
only in emergencies | Felt terrain should be allowed only in situations where better terrain is not feasible (i.e., long travel distance). |
no opinion | I have no opinion. |
