Yep. Also went t'other way.
My first historical miniatures gaming experience was 1/285th scale WW2 micro armor using "Tractics".
Eventually, I wrote a set of skirmish rules for 1:18 scale WW2 squad engagements.
I've also played fleet scale "Full Thrust" (1/1200th? 1/2400th?) and played the "boarding actions" that occurred in 28mm on a side table
I think those are the widest leaps in scale I've done.

Have you ever "tried out" a new period using smaller scale figures, then found out you liked the period, and decided to move to larger scale figures in the same period?

(For example, trying out the English Civil War in 6mm scale, then committing to English Civil War in 28mm scale.)
