It seems we are talking about two different things in this thread, poor grammar and unclear rules. If the rules exhibit poor grammar or unclear rulesI am less likely to purchase them. I expect a better edited and produced copy when buying expensive rules.

I will make some allowances for poor grammar. If I am buying an inexpensive rules set I will buy the rules unless they are unclear.

Like many of you I will make some exceptions for rules written by someone for whom English is a second language when they show poor grammar but I am always concerned about whether the writer can express his intent clearly enough for the rules to be useable.

Is Phil Barker's prose good English? Ive seen a lot of debate about this. I got very poor grades in English in both College and High school and am an American. We Americans dont quite speak and write the same English as our cousins across the ocean. My judgement of Mr. Barkers prose is that it is not good English. As his prose is unclear to both we Americans and his countrymen.

Ditto Tango 2 1 Inactive Member wonders...

Does poor English turn you off a ruleset? For me it certainly does, having bought a set of rules recently that looks like a kid in grade five wrote it. I can't help but wonder what else they got wrong...
