Getting rid of compasses is foolish, given the vulnerability of satellites and GPS, etc..

Good to hear celestial navigation is being taught again.

Seems like the USN could use some training in dead reckoning navigation too, in order to prevent another Iranian seizure of our naval personnel. Even amateur sea kayakers know the basics of that.
