How long can a poll suggestion remain on the waiting list before it is posted?

There are polls being posted that were suggested years ago. So long that the person who suggested it has forgotten about it and it was such a hot topic that nobody else suggested it. It was so important to the person who suggested it that he hasn't followed up on it. The poll may no longer be relevant.

I would say a poll suggestion that has not been posted within a year should be deleted for lack of interest. How long do you think it should be before the poll suggestion is given the old heave-ho?
